Living In Twilight Zones: A Conversation With Dr. Kamille Gentles-Peart
Join us for a conversation with Dr. Kamille Gentles-Peart, Professor of Critical Communication Studies, moderated by Dr. Bernardo H. Motta, Associate Professor of Journalism, as she shares her forthcoming book, Living in Twilight Zones: Black Women and Thick Bodies in Trinidad and Tobego.
Dr. Gentles-Peart, a critical cultural studies scholar, focuses on Afro-Caribbean feminisms, radicalized body politics, and embodied decolonization practices. In this talk, she will present her current research on thick Black women in Trinidad and Tobego and the ways they navigate daily life in spaces shaped by love, fetishization, and hypersexualization.
